A vessel on the transverse ship lift at the Burgas site at dusk

Yacht conversion · Port of Burgas

Burgas can lift
your donor

A tug, a trawler, an offshore vessel — a working ship with a serious hull, reborn as an explorer yacht. The port operates a transverse ship lift that takes the donor out of the water broadside; that is the reason a conversion is physically possible in Burgas at all. The rest is our design office and qualified trades.

Why convert at all

The thing that makes
conversions possible

A conversion buys what a newbuild cannot: a proven ocean hull, displacement and range that would cost a multiple to build from a blank sheet. The donor — a tug, a trawler, an offshore supply vessel — brings the steel; the yacht is everything that happens to it next.

It begins with getting her out of the water, and on this coast that is the scarce resource, not the ideas. The transverse ship lift in Burgas has been working since 1985; the donor is hauled out broadside and stands on her cradle on a concrete yard beside the water, with cranes and heavy lift around her. From there it is disciplined shipbuilding — to your scope, at the cost base of Bulgaria, inside the European Union.

How a conversion runs

Survey it
Draw it
Then cut metal

01 · Survey and yacht concept

The donor is surveyed on the hard. Our design office draws the yacht she can become — general arrangement, exterior lines, weight estimate and class strategy — before anything is cut.

02 · Re-engineering to a yacht

New superstructure, lengthening if the concept calls for it, stability and tank re-purposing, foundations for owner spaces — recalculated and redrawn to whichever society holds the vessel.

03 · Metal, then the yacht

Steel and aluminium under approved welding procedures, seam by seam in the log, with an independent inspector — then insulation, systems and outfitting toward the interior standard you choose.

The same audited quality system as our newbuild programmes — drawing control, welding logs, incoming inspection, non-conformity control. See how a build runs.

Get in touch

Tell us about the donor

Type of vessel, where she lies, and the yacht you see in her. You get back a feasibility view — can she come out of the water here, and what the conversion into a yacht would take — before either of us commits to anything. A mutual NDA comes first if the project needs one.
